The story is set in the late 19th century and follows Sandrine, a woman shaken by her fathers death and fearful of her husband as she embarks on a journey to Paris to live with her grandmother, a well known courtesan. Sandrine discovers another world while in Paris full of dark arts, mystery, a talent for art she has not known, and the great La Lune, a legendary witch who wants to take over Sandrines life. How far will Sandrine let that happen?

This is my first read by MJ Rose. Though I am not much of a historical novel reader, I did enjoy this. The story kept me intrigued enough to continue reading and the imagery and details provided gave you a glimpse back in time. Thank you MJ Rose!
