Confession: I did not read the other books in this series, and yet I still could figure out who the characters were and the backgrounds. Maybe not as well, but I will go back and catch up. So that also means my first book from Carmen Jenner and all I can say is Thank You!! I loved the book and the quirky people of Sugartown! How can you not?! Even after one book they crack me up!
When Pepper Ryan-Harris-Rowe runs back to Sugartown in the ice cream van she stole from her boss that owes her money, she runs into, or nearly, the one person that has held her heart forever. Sammy Belle. Sammy is six years older than Pepper and has always thought of her as his little sister. Or so she thinks. Sammy has been in love with Pepper his whole life but fought it for as long as he could. Once they do give into each other, Pepper’s fears kick in and she runs, leaving Sammy in the middle of the night. Six years later the two of them are still trying to fight it, but can they? What made Pepper run the first time?
This story is a rollercoaster! There is humor, love, hot sex,and a crazy smart-mouth-pink-hair character. But it also deals with a real mental disorder that can break apart many families. I cried at the battles that they went through and the personal struggles each character had with how they had to handle it. Bravo for telling such a great story. Thank you Carmen Jenner!!
