Well damn. There are some authors that when you finish their book, you have to take a couple of days to recover from such an amazing story. Heph – Modern Descendents #3 is one of those books and Elda Lore is one of those authors. Her ability to take characters from Greek Mythology and turn them into incredible stories is a gift. Everytime I read one of these stories, I fall in love with the character and think it can’t get better. But in the case of this series, each character becomes better and I can’t get enough.

Heph is one of the many children of Zeke, mentioned in Book 1 & 2. After being promised to a woman that cheated on him, Heph leaves and goes to Hestia’s house to get over everything. What he doesn’t expect when he arrives is to have his car shot with an arrow by Phyre and then to fall for the girl who could start fires. But he is willing to fight for his Little Spark.

Phyre found her way to Hestia’s, a safe place for people like her. Having lost her way in the world, she felt safe and in control at Hestia’s. That is until Hephaestus shows up and helps to make her forget she is different. But will she be able to get over the guilt she has over what she did to a man who took advantage of her? Will she give herself to the big, burly metalworker who could either make her happy or break her heart?

Heph will steal your heart. His and Phyre’s story is written with so many emotions and twists you won’t want to stop reading,as proven by my very tired looking eyes from staying up late. Elda Lore, you have outdone yourself and I am thrilled I got to read this book. Thank you for bringing us such a true love story. I can’t wait for the next one.

 Synopsis

Phyre has a haunting past. The girl without a last name and fire in her hands burns with a history of destruction to save herself. Solace is finally found in the cozy comfort of Hestia’s Home, a place for women who need hiding. Just like her five surrogate sisters-in-solitude, Phyre yearns to extinguish memories and rekindle her spirit. Her plan blazes forward until he arrives.
Hephaestus Cronus considers himself an ugly man. A near-death accident left him disabled but not without heart. His gratitude lies with the protection of his foster mother, Hestia. Running from a failed relationship, Heph only desires the familiar fires of the hearth at her home. Burned from the heartache, Heph never expected to spark a new flame in the rose-bud-cherry-haired girl missing a name.
This modern tale of Hephaestus, the metal working god, rights the wrong of a crippled man failed at love. Here the flaming passion he deserved as an under-recognized god is written in a new fashion with the fiery spirit of a woman who ignites true love between these twin flames.
