Being a fan already of YA Paranormal it was hard to imagine how this book was going to be different. I was happily surprised by it. It had all the characteristics of that you would expect but the story kept me going and wanting to finish.

Rebecca, a 17 year high school  senior suddenly thrown into the supernatural world because of her vengeance to find out who murdered her parents. When she finds out that werewolves have a pack in Phoenix, problem solved. Or so she thinks. All of a sudden she is thrown into a supernatural war and she is a leader. Plus now she has a Guardian. Her Guardian and “pretend” boyfriend Lucky who also happens to be gorgeous is there to help, but his looks and their attraction get in the way. Then there is Gabe, a rogue werewolf and also gorgeous who is claiming her as his mate. Throw in some other crazy supernaturals and you have a great story. Rebecca has enough going on with high school and finding out about the truth of her parents death to have to deal with anymore. But she has no choice. She’s a Winters.

I am glad I had a chance to read this book. First it was a nice break from what I generally read, but it also was a break from the typical YA Paranormal that I have read. I can’t wait to see where the book takes this story. I will be reading. Thank you Jami Brumfield!

Synopsis

His cover is simple; he poses as the dutiful ‘pretend’ boyfriend in order to keep an eye on the new alpha wolf.

Gabriel Black though taking his pack back from the witch who was chosen as the new alpha would be simple. He thought wrong. His entire world was turned upside down the moment he met Rebecca at the Authority Council meeting…and he was hooked the moment he kissed her to prove she wasn’t dating his best friend, Lucky.

It’s like being torn between two lovers.

Rebecca is pulled in hundreds of different directions while she attempts to find a way to survive the supernatural world, protect her family, and discover who massacred her entire pack days before her first transformation. She doesn’t have time for romance.

But the heart wants what the heart wants.

And the wolf gets what the wolf wants – or so her alpha believes. While Rebecca manages to keep her head above water as she unlocks political and family secrets which could destroy her, she loses sight of the most important people in her life and one of them pays the ultimate price.
